"Our MacMurray 2011 Winemaker’s Block Selection offers an elegant expression of the Russian River Valley. Silky and smooth, the Winemaker's Block Pinot Noir reflects the cooler vintage and long growing season with its deep cherry characteristics and firm structure from the Del Rio 115 and Pommard lots and boysenberry and lavender notes from the 828 Laguna lots.
A long and cool growing season, the 2011 vintage was excellent in the Russian River Valley. We selected the fruit for this Pinot Noir from three esteemed blocks on Laguna Ranch and Del Rio Vineyard. A majority was selected from Laguna Ranch block L07, where Swan and 828 clones thrived. Del Rio Vineyard supplied clones 828 and Swan Pinot Noir from block R04 and Pommard clone Pinot Noir from block R02. All three vineyard blocks are VSP trellised, hand-leafed and hand-harvested. On average, the grapes were harvested two weeks later than normal, which is a true reflection of the long cool growing season."

Wine SpectatorA bold, rich Pinot, showing lots of flavor, depth, structure and finesse. The tannins weigh in early and hang on amid the ripe plum, blueberry and raspberry notes. The finish tightens and grips in a pleasing way. Drink now. 550 cases made.
